IHC 2020 invites the Brazilian scientific community of Human-Computer Interaction (IHC) to reflect on the theme "History and Interaction". This theme refers to the beautiful and historic city of Diamantina, which received the title of World Cultural Heritage Site, from UNESCO in 1999.
Contrasting with the modern forms of interaction of the 21st century, IHC 2020 proposes a rescue of our history, with the nostalgia of a time when interactions took place through warm conversations between friends, the meeting around the meal table, or tea in the late afternoon. A time that was better spent with rich interactions, and that seemed to pass more slowly. With this, nowadays there is the challenge of improving the quality of interaction between people with and through technology, considering the intensity of sensations inherent to interactions in the past. IHC2020 explores the ability to integrate past and future, bringing together different disciplines and backgrounds, uniting the physical and digital world, in order to debate the ethical and social aspects that permeate research and practice in the area of Human-Computer Interaction. The theme "History and Interaction" highlights the importance of knowing the past to project the future, in a creative, innovative and responsible way.
Researchers, professors, industry professionals and students are invited to submit full papers that contribute to research in the area of HCI. Full papers are publications that demonstrate original research in the area of HCI, not published or submitted for review in another forum. Full papers submissions should have high-quality and solid academic research findings with clear contributions to the HCI area. Contributions should include relevant and unpublished findings from research projects, case studies, informed discussions, or experiences that provide new evidence on HCI research or application.
Full papers must be no longer than 10 pages (including figures, tables, diagrams, bibliography and attachments). Submissions must be anonymous (note ACM CHI2020's suggestions on CHI Anonymisation Policy), written either in English or Portuguese. MS Word users must carefully follow the Interim layout.docx template and LaTex users must follow the sample-sigplan.tex template.
Authors should pay attention to the reference format, which must contain the full name of each author (according to the template). Authors must submit their papers in PDF format, via the JEMS system.
Submissions that do not conform to the required submission format or are outside the scope of the symposium, or that have been submitted or published in any other forum (conference or journal), will be rejected without review. All other work will be reviewed by at least three members of the program committee.
In order to increase the interaction between authors and reviewers and improve the discussion process, this year we will have the rebuttal process. Authors will have access to the reviews and will be able to argue and answer the reviewers' questions before the final decision of acceptance or rejection. The replica is limited to a plain text of up to 4,000 characters. If the submission is accepted, the authors should consider the reviewers' comments to prepare the final version of the paper.
Accepted full papers will be published in the Symposium’s proceedings and will be indexed in the ACM Digital Library. The paper publication is subject to the registration of at least one of the authors in the "Professional" category. When there is not a paid registration in the "Professional" category, at least 1 (one) author must pay the additional publication fee on top of his/her current registration. In addition, the publication is also subject to the paper presentation at the event.
For the publication of more than one paper linked to a same registration, the publication fee will also be charged for each extra paper.
